Air Canada Faces Lawsuit Over Recent C$20 Million Heist From Toronto Airport

Toronto, Canada – Brink’s International, a Miami-based security and logistics company, has taken legal action against Air Canada, alleging “negligence and carelessness” in a lawsuit filed on October 6th in the Federal Court of Canada. This legal action is in connection with a recent audacious heist involving the theft of valuable cargo, estimated to be worth over C$20 million (US$15 million), that had arrived on an Air Canada flight from Zurich to Toronto before mysteriously disappearing.

The stolen cargo included a staggering 400.19 kilograms of gold bars and $2 million in cash. Brink’s had been entrusted by a bank and a precious metal company to oversee the safe transit of these high-value goods. Shockingly, the theft occurred a mere 42 minutes after the cargo had been unloaded from the plane that had landed at Toronto Pearson International Airport from Switzerland.

Brink’s International has levelled serious allegations against the airline, asserting that Air Canada’s actions were “reckless” and that they had failed to take the necessary measures to prevent the theft. This heist is now etched in history as one of the largest and most audacious thefts ever recorded in Canada.

The legal proceedings have drawn significant attention, as the stolen cargo’s value and the audacity of the heist have captured the public’s imagination. It remains to be seen how the lawsuit will unfold and how Air Canada will respond to the accusations of negligence and carelessness in this high-profile case. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the need for robust security measures in the transportation of valuable goods, especially in an era where the logistics industry is handling increasingly valuable cargo.
